Rapid Qualitative Methodology to Support Community-Engaged Research Workshop

On May 8, faculty and researchers from the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS) and the College of Social Work came together for a full-day, skills-based workshop on Rapid Qualitative Methodology to Support Community-Engaged Research. Led by Drs. Hannah Frank and Ruben Martinez—implementation science and community engagement experts from Brown University’s BRIDGE Program and the IMPACT ALACRITY Center—this dynamic session offered a deep dive into the tools and strategies needed to strengthen health equity through community partnerships and evidence-based practices.
Participants had the opportunity to:
- Gain foundational knowledge of implementation science
- Explore rapid qualitative methods to identify and prioritize implementation barriers
- Develop and refine interview guides
- Engage in real-time data analysis using rapid approaches
- Practice using the IMPACT ALACRITY barrier prioritization toolkit
- Receive tailored consultation on current or upcoming projects and grant proposals
This hands-on workshop was an extension of the earlier conversation with Drs. Frank and Martinez hosted by the Implementation Science Working Group, where many first encountered their innovative approach to community-engaged research.
The event was intentionally kept small to allow for personalized feedback, project-specific consultation, and meaningful peer learning. We are grateful to Drs. Frank and Martinez for sharing their expertise and to all attendees for their thoughtful participation and commitment to advancing equitable, community-centered research.
Stay tuned for future opportunities to continue building capacity in implementation science across our colleges!
